Hydrolysis

Hydrolysis is a chemical reaction in which a molecule is cleaved into smaller fragments through the addition of water. In peptides, hydrolysis can break the peptide bonds linking amino acids, and it is one of the pathways by which a peptide in solution may degrade over time.
