Freeze-thaw cycle

A freeze-thaw cycle is one complete sequence of freezing a sample and then returning it to a liquid state. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles can mechanically and chemically stress dissolved peptides, potentially causing degradation or aggregation, which is why solutions are often aliquoted before freezing.
